Delicious Sushi flavours meets fries! Modern comfort food at it’s best.
Sushi is delicious. Although, it is a real pain to make at home and take-out can be quite expensive. Sushi fries are a creative way to enjoy all of the delicious flavours of sushi in french fry form.
Feel free to add anything else you might normally enjoy in your sushi to this recipe, like pickled ginger, cucumber, seaweed or even mango. This is a recipe you can really get creative with! It is also super quick to put together, and if you’re feeling lazy, you could definitely substitute your favourite frozen oven fries here for an even quicker meal.

Description
Delicious Sushi flavours meets fries! Modern comfort food at it’s best.
Scale
Ingredients
Fries:
- 2 Large russet potatoes
- 3 tbs Vegetable oil
Coating:
- 1 Tbsp Wasabi powder
- 1 tsp Garlic powder
- 1 tsp Ginger powder
- 1/4 tsp Onion powder
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1 Tbsp Brown sugar
- 2 Tbsp Soy sauce
- 1 tbs Rice vinegar
- 1 tsp Sesame oil
Spicy Mayonnaise:
- 1/4 cup Vegan mayonnaise
- 1 Tbsp Sriracha sauce
- 1/8 tsp Chipotle chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp Smoked paprika
Toppings:
- 1 Tbs Sesame seeds
- 3 Green onions, chopped
- Half an avocado, sliced
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 450 degrees F. Cut the potatoes into fry shapes and coat in the vegetable oil. Bake until well browned and crispy, roughly 40 mins.
- In a small bowl mix together the dry seasonings (wasabi powder, garlic, ginger, onion, salt and brown sugar) and set aside
- Prepare your sauce by mixing together in a small bowl the mayonnaise, sriracha, chipotle powder and smoked paprika. If you prefer a spicier sauce feel free to add more chipotle powder as desired, I’ve found adding more sriracha yields a more watery sauce.
- Once your fries are cooked, transfer them to a very large bowl and toss them with the soy sauce, rice vinegar and sesame oil.
- Add the powdered seasoning and toss again to thoroughly coat.
- Transfer to a plate and top with the sauce, green onion, avocado, sesame seeds and anything else you might enjoy.
